Robert was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. He attended Lacerte French School until 1969 when his family relocated to Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. There, he spent three years at the International School of Tanganyika. After completing high school in Ottawa, Ontario, Robert began performing in musical theater and children's touring theater. Following a lengthy involvement with The Great Canadian Theatre Company in Ottawa, where he acted in and directed main stage productions, Robert transitioned to a career in front of the camera, starting with guest roles on series such as Street Legal, Forever Knight, and Counterstrike. By the early 1990s, Robert was starring in lead roles on TV series, beginning with RCMP officer Brian Fletcher in the popular show North of 60. Numerous other series followed in quick succession, often overlapping, including Wind at My Back for Sullivan Entertainment, Our Hero for CBC, The Famous Jett Jackson for Disney, Nero Wolfe for A&E, and more. Alongside an extensive list of feature films and television movies, Robert developed a parallel career as a voice artist, voicing Robocop in the Marvel animated series as well as characters in Sailor Moon, The Adventures of Teddy Ruxpin, X-Men, Maxie's World, Super Mario Brothers, Dennis the Menace, Max and Ruby, Monster Force, and others. He co-wrote the screenplay for the short film This One Night. His series, Bob, was developed with Big Motion Pictures and Global Television. Robert is also a widely published author of short fiction, and his debut novel, Willow's Run, is available worldwide. He resides in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
