Initially known for his performances on television and stages worldwide, Alani has shifted his creative focus to writing and developing immersive, VR, and streamed theatrical productions that connect technology, theater, and global audiences. He produced and directed the streamed play Meat Puppet: The Filmed Experience before being selected for the National Association of Musical Theater's inaugural Festival Observership for Early Career Directors, mentored by Warren Adams. Alani authored the book for the new musical At the River I Stand, developed through the Johnny Mercer Writers Colony at Goodspeed, TheatreWorks Hartford's WORKshop Series, and recognized as the Inaugural Theatre Accelerator New Reality Edition Sing Tank Winner. He also wrote and directed The Calling: A Musical VR Experience, an interactive precursor to At the River I Stand, showcased at the Slamdance Film Festival, the 32nd Annual NAMT, and the 2023 PXR conferences as an example of emerging XR technology in theatrical development.
As an actor, Alani's television appearances include NBC's Law & Order (2010), CBS' Blue Bloods (2010), TNT's Major Crimes (2013), ABC's Castle (2014), Nickelodeon's Cousins for Life (2019), Casagrandes (2020), and Loud House (2020-2022). He has performed at renowned theaters across the country such as the Geffen Playhouse, Seattle Repertory Company, Arena Stage, Woolly Mammoth Theater, TheatreWorks Hartford, and Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park. In voice-over work, he has completed over 450 bookings for major broadcasters and brands including ABC's Good Morning America, Nickelodeon, and MTV.
Alani voices a series regular in the upcoming HBO Max/Cartoon Network animated preschool series Jessica's Little Big World, a spin-off of the Emmy Award-winning Craig of the Creek, and will appear on screen in the forthcoming Netflix feature film Arthur the King, starring Mark Wahlberg.
He is a graduate of NYU's Tisch School of the Arts and a recipient of the Ron Howard Fellowship.
