Stuart Lawson was born in Devon and displayed a talent for entertaining from a very young age. He first performed on stage at just four years old in a production of 'Yeomen of the Guard' at the Adeline Genee Theatre. With a strong family background in musical theatre, Stuart has participated in theatrical productions throughout most of his life and has trained alongside some of the industry's most influential directors, writers, and actors. He has collaborated with both established and emerging actors, directing and performing alongside them in various productions for several professional companies.
After college, Stuart immediately began working, securing a four-month contract on the children's show "The Rangers," produced by Antony Audenshaw (Emmerdale), where he developed skills in street theatre, skin work, and compère. His work as a compère led to opportunities as a presenter and interviewer for various TV and radio programs, including an interview on Channel 4's Bigger Breakfast.
In 2000, he landed the lead role in the Film 4-financed short film 'The Fall' and has since appeared in numerous short films, often as the lead, which helped him refine his film acting skills. His first major break came in 2003 with a role in "Closer." In 2004, he took on a more active role in film production, gaining valuable experience behind the camera as a writer, editor, and in other production areas.
In 2008, he produced a documentary on the dance installation "Duets for Unusual Souls" with Angela Praed (Random Dance), recreating the dance marathons (walkathons) of the 1920s-1930s during the Great Depression. Following this success, the team formed a production company, Blue Slug, which went on to produce films, music videos, and provide outsourcing services to companies including 24 Productions, BBC, and Warner Brothers.
