Alejandro Bellame Palacios, born in Caracas, Venezuela, is an Italian-Venezuelan writer, producer, and director. He graduated in Social Communication from UCAB in 1986. Over the past 30 years, he has worked as a director and scriptwriter on various long and short documentaries. He has also participated in screenplay and directing workshops with Jaime Chavarri, Jacques Spagnol, Senel Paz, and Jean-Claude Carrière.
For three years, he served as President of the National Authors Association of Venezuela (ANAC), where he contributed to drafting the new National Cinematography Law, which was enacted in 2005. Additionally, he has taught Film Direction at UCAB and the National School of Cinema in Caracas.
He wrote, produced, and directed the short film Fosa Común (1998), which received awards at international festivals including Dresden, Trieste, Bahia, and Havana, as well as national honors such as ANAC, CONAC, and CNAC quality awards. His first feature film, El Tinte de la Fama (2008), was Venezuela's submission for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Film. His second feature, El Rumor de las Piedras (2011) (The Rumble of the Stones), also garnered several awards at international film festivals.
His third feature film, Dirección Opuesta, is currently in production and is based on the novel Blue Label (Etiqueta Azul) by Venezuelan writer Eduardo Sánchez Rugeles.
