Born in Florence and raised in Versilia, Giorgio Panariello is a comedian, actor, and presenter known for his talent, expressiveness, and exceptional ability to transform himself. He has worked across theatre, cinema, television, books, advertising, and radio. Beginning his career on private Tuscan television alongside Carlo Conti, he gained significant recognition with the show Torno Sabato, which earned him his name and awards such as the Telegatto and Oscar TV for Performer of the Year. In 1997, he rose to fame when Maurizio Costanzo presented his one-man show Boati di silenzio at Rome’s Parioli Theatre.
Panariello boasts an extensive filmography including titles like Finalmente soli, Bagnomaria, Al momento giusto (which he also wrote), I Love You in Every Language of the World, Notte prima degli esami - oggi, Sms Sotto Mentite Spoglie, No problem, I mostri oggi, Sharm el Sheik - un estate indimenticabile, Amici miei... come tutto ebbe inizio, Natale in Sud Africa, Un fantastico via vai, ..E fuori nevica, and Uno per tutti, the latter showcasing his dramatic prowess and earning praise from both audiences and critics.
Despite his success in film and television, theatre remains Panariello’s first passion, allowing him to connect deeply with his audience. He has delivered numerous acclaimed theatrical performances, including Panariello... chi?, Panariello d'estate, and Chissà se sarà uno show. In 2003, he portrayed Monsieur Jordain in Molière’s The Bourgeois Gentleman. The following year, he brought his One-Man Show to Italian communities in New York and Connecticut while simultaneously recording sold-out performances for audiences in Italy. Upon returning to Italy, he staged Giorgio in scena.
In 2006, Panariello revitalized the Sanremo Music Festival, celebrating Italian show business. He continued to captivate theatre audiences with Faccio del mio meglio and returned in 2010 with Panariello non esiste. Proceeds from his 2012 show Se stasera siamo qui were donated to those affected by the Lunigiana floods. He then launched his popular show In mezzo @ voi!
In 2008, two of his iconic Tuscan comedy characters, Naomo and La Signora Italia, featured alongside Vanessa Incontrada in a major advertisement for the cellular company Wind. Panariello has also excelled as an author, with his book Non ti lascerò mai solo (Mondadori) selling over 100,000 copies, and a photography book titled Guardami negli occhi.
His television comeback in 2012 with Panariello non esiste on Canale 5 was met with great success. In December 2013, he returned to prime time on Rai1 with Panariello sotto l'albero, a popular variety show featuring both his classic and new characters alongside well-known guests.
In September 2016, Panariello joined longtime friends Leonardo Pieraccioni and Carlo Conti for the show Panariello-Conti-Pieraccioni - il Tour at Verona Arena. This successful tour continued across various sports arenas in Italy until September 2017 and resumed in 2019, once again achieving great acclaim. In October, he premiered his new theatrical show Il Panariello che verrà, followed in December by two nights of Panariello sotto l'albero at the Modigliani Forum in Livorno.
In September 2018, he joined Carlo Conti’s jury on Rai1’s Tale e quale show. By November 2019, he was part of the cast of Rai1’s Pezzi unici. Celebrating his 60th birthday and 20 years of Torno Sabato in 2020, he announced a new show, La favola mia, which was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic but launched in 2022 to positive reviews from both audiences and critics.
In 2023, Panariello embarked on the tour Panariello vs. Masini - lo strano incontro, performing alongside his friend Marco Masini.
