Kevin E. West, originally from Nashville, TN, grew up there from the late 1960s through the mid-1980s before beginning his performing career in Atlanta, GA. An avid sports enthusiast, he has competed six times in the Men's Senior Baseball World Series and plays serious Texas Hold'em part-time at Commerce Casino, known as one of the toughest card rooms worldwide. Kevin has completed the LA Marathon four times and played collegiate golf at two universities during his youth. Beyond his extensive television career, he spent his first two years in Hollywood as a stand-up comedian and improv artist. Early in his Los Angeles career, Kevin founded The Actors' Network.
The Actors' Network is the most recognized, trusted, and industry-endorsed business organization for actors in the United States. It won Backstage West's "Reader's Choice" awards consecutively in 2006 and 2007, and has been featured three times on Entertainment Tonight and twice on CNBC. Its notable alumni include Golden Globe and Emmy nominee Masi Oka (Heroes), Christopher Gorham (Covert Affairs) from the Golden Globe-winning cast of Ugly Betty, and Maggie Grace (Taken). With a blend of wit, warmth, and wisdom, Kevin has guided many actors through the challenges of Hollywood’s often difficult acting life. He is widely regarded as an expert in business education for performers, having spoken at SAG, ShowBiz Expo (NYC), UCLA, SAG Conservatory, Chapman University, Cal State Fullerton, and numerous talent conventions nationwide from Dallas to Florida. He was also the keynote speaker at a major Hollywood education event held at the Writers Guild of America and continues to speak both nationally and internationally.
In early 2014, Kevin launched Dirty Laundry TV, "The news program that will give you the runs." In 2010, to further his goal of educating the global acting community, he created the Industry Professional interview series, ActorBizGuru. He has also extended his expertise beyond Hollywood by co-authoring the two-hour CD "The Actor's Guide to Getting the Job" with top Los Angeles commercial instructor Carolyne Barry.
Kevin also founded the annual Hack n' Smack, Kerry Daveline Memorial Celebrity Golf Tournament in Southern California, which benefits melanoma awareness. This event attracted celebrities such as Joe Pesci, Joe Mantegna, Ron Perlman, and Michael Chiklis and was named one of the top 10 celebrity golf events in Southern California by Southland Golf magazine. He has contributed his skills as writer, producer, host, and director to numerous charitable causes, including "Together We Can, Together We Will," in response to the L.A. riots, and the teen runaway benefit "Runnin' on Empty," both featuring top celebrities like Jason Alexander.
