Peter Reichenbach was born in Zurich in 1954. After finishing school, he worked as an assistant director for filmmakers including Jean-Pierre Ponnelle, Peter Stein, Peter Beauvais, Michael Hampe, and Imo Moszkowicz. He gained initial film and television experience through his uncle François Reichenbach, known for works such as "Le Japon insolite," "Houston Texas," "Salzburg, Portrait einer Festspielstadt," and "Lettres de Paris et d'ailleurs." Between 1977 and 1980, he served as an assistant director and production manager at the Frankfurt Opera and the Salzburg Festival, collaborating with Virginio Puecher, Jürgen Flimm, Hans Neuenfels, and August Everding. From 1981 to 1989, Reichenbach lived in West Berlin, working freelance as a theater and opera director at venues including the Schiller Theater, Berliner Kammerspiele, Theater der Freien Volksbühne Berlin, Theater des Westens, Frankfurt Opera, Zurich Opera, Bonn Opera, Lyric Opera Chicago, Staatstheater Saarbrücken, and Long Beach Opera. As a film director, he created portraits of pianist Géza Anda and Arthur Maria Rabenalt. Since 1989, he has lived in Zurich. Until 1999, he worked as a film producer at Condor Films, directing and producing projects such as the sitcom "Boxer Shorts." In 1998, he produced "Fiddlefest in Central Park" for Time Warner. In 1999, together with Peter-Christian Fueter and Edi Hubschmid, he co-founded C-Films AG. Their productions have earned numerous prestigious national and international awards, including two Swiss Film Awards for Best Picture ("Azzurro," "Rascals on the Road") and Best Actor ("Big Deal," "Füür oder Flamme," "The Fosterboy"), various audience awards and honors at international festivals such as the Golden Leopard at the 2000 Locarno International Film Festival for "Azzurro," the German Film Award for the co-production "Das wahre Leben," multiple accolades at the German Television Award ("A Passing Angel," "The Manns - Novel of a Century," "In the Name of God"), as well as International Emmy Awards for the co-productions "In the Name of God" and "The Manns - Novel of a Century." Notable box-office successes in recent Swiss film history include "Rascals on the Road," "Grounding - The Last Days of Swissair," "The Foster Boy," "Night Train to Lisbon," and "I Am the Keeper.
