Sally McLean boasts a distinguished theatrical career, performing on stages and screens across Australia, the US, and the UK. Her journey began at age 10 as part of a youth performing arts troupe, touring Australia, Holland, Switzerland, and the UK. As a teenager, she transitioned to Australian television and film, with roles in The Flying Doctors (1985), Bingles (1992), and Neighbours (1985). Her early talent earned her nominations for 'Best New Talent' and 'Best Supporting Actress' at the 1990 MTGV Awards for her portrayal of 'Ado Annie' in the stage production of Oklahoma.
In the early 1990s, Sally relocated to London, England, where she gained behind-the-scenes experience working in production at the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). She graduated from The Actors' Institute, London, in 1996 and then immersed herself in the UK theatre scene, starring in leading roles in Uncle Vanya, Macbeth, Annabel's Requiem, Top Girls, and Hamlet. In 1997, she combined her skills to launch her first film, A Little Rain Must Fall, through her production company Incognita Enterprises, with Honorary Patron Nigel Hawthorne. She later returned to Australia to perform in the Australian premiere of the off-Broadway hit I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change, followed by Marissa in Duncan Sarkies' Lovepuke. Her subsequent work includes numerous stage, television, and film roles, such as Angie Powers in the BBC mini-series Bootleg (2002), Stacey in the ABC comedy series Utopia (2014), and three seasons with the Australian Shakespeare Company.
