சுயசரிதை
Tyler Griffin was born on March 4 in Los Angeles, California. His father, Patrick Griffin, is of English and Irish descent, while his mother, Ileane Rusch, is of mixed African-American heritage. Despite this, Tyler’s blond hair and blue eyes make it hard to guess his background. As a third-generation industry child, music and film have played a significant role in his life. His grandmother, Gloria Rusch, was a singer, actress, and vocal coach who performed worldwide with legends like Duke Ellington, George Duke, Chick Corea, and Stevie Wonder. She also acted on TV and in films but passed away in January 2000 from breast cancer, before Tyler had the chance to meet her. His father, Patrick Griffin, is a composer, and his mother, Ileane Rusch, a former Arista recording artist, singer, and actress, later became a talent manager and producer. She was a passionate supporter of her children’s artistic pursuits and passed away in June 2019 after an 11-year battle with breast cancer, surrounded by loved ones and holding Tyler’s hand.
Tyler has always loved animals. As a child, he and his sister caught tadpoles and raised them into frogs, observed caterpillars transforming into butterflies, and grew up with cats, dogs, and tortoises. He spent much of his childhood singing, dancing, and making friends wherever he went. He affectionately called recording artist John Novello “grandpa,” though they are not related; John was his mother’s second stepfather. Contrary to some incorrect online claims, Tyler has no Italian heritage.
His biological grandparents are singer Gloria Rusch (1946–2000), helicopter pilot James Rausch (1944–1972), engineer Raymond Griffin (1924–1998), and music enthusiast June Griffin (1930–1991). Although he never met his grandparents, he was close to his great-grandmother Emma Rausch (1923–2016) and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Tyler’s older sister, Naomi Griffin, who acted when she was younger, is a talented singer and is now pursuing a career in art.
Tyler’s first industry role was in a Living Spaces commercial alongside Ava Chelsea Ingram, followed by commercials for Oreo, Epson, web series, and pilots. His most exciting job to date was working with director James Wan on Insidious: Chapter 2 (2013), released on Friday the 13th in September. Since middle school, Tyler has enjoyed singing and dancing in competitive, award-winning show choirs. He also works behind the camera, filming and editing movies and music videos that he shares on YouTube. In 2020, he began songwriting and releasing digital tracks while working on his first album.
