Soledad St. Hilaire was born at Santo Tomas Hospital in Panama City on October 25, 1950, at 11:00 p.m. She graduated from Panama School in 1969 and moved to Los Angeles, California, in 1970 to attend California Business College. Currently, she is enrolled at Cypress College in an intensive theater program. Although she aspires to earn a law degree, acting remains her true passion. Ms. St. Hilaire is a single mother to her supportive daughter, Sabella St. Hilaire, who is also an actress and fully supports her mother's career.
In January 1992, Soledad was diagnosed with cancer. After several surgeries, she was given a second chance at life, which strengthened her resolve to pursue acting as her true calling. In 1995, when her daughter's agent invited her to audition, she initially declined. However, her daughter encouraged her to contact the casting agent to reschedule, but it was too late. The agent mentioned the difficulty of finding qualified Hispanic/Latina women to play motherly roles in commercials and encouraged Soledad to enter the entertainment industry. Motivated, Ms. St. Hilaire thoroughly researched the business and quickly became passionate about it.
Soon after, she made her film debut in Miguel Arteta’s 1996 controversial feature Star Maps (1997). Her career continued with roles in films such as The End of Violence (1997) directed by Wim Wenders; Crazy/Beautiful (2001) directed by John Stockwell; Real Women Have Curves (2002), an HBO production that won the Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival, directed by Patricia Cardoso; and Full Frontal (2002) directed by Oscar-winner Steven Soderbergh.
Beyond her acting career, Ms. St. Hilaire is a licensed real estate agent and has experience as an escrow officer, title officer, travel agent, welfare worker for Orange County, notary public, and manager at Denny's Restaurant and IHOP. She also holds a certificate as a court mediator. She currently lives in Cypress, California, where she owns SoleMar Marketing & Promotions and SoleMar Productions, which previously produced the entertainment program "Nosotros Now." In her spare time, Soledad enjoys surfing the internet, discovering healthy recipes, and working on her theater web class. She is also a skilled handywoman, passionate gardener, and versatile performer.
