Edward Chiodo is the co-chairman and head of production at Chiodo Bros. Productions, Inc., overseeing new business development, client relations, and overall studio operations. He also acts as Executive Producer on all company projects. With over thirty years leading this creative independent production company, Edward brings expertise in live-action puppetry, stop-motion animation, make-up effects, special effects, and production management.
After honing his skills in effects artistry, the Chiodo brothers created the original 30-minute TV special "Cousin Kevin" for KABC. This award-winning special paved the way for their feature film "Killer Klowns from Outer Space," which Edward produced and co-wrote with his brothers. Soon after, he co-produced Sid and Marty Krofft's "Land of the Lost," and later partnered with Howie Mandel as executive producer and co-creator of CBS's wild live-action series "The Amazing Live Sea-Monkeys."
Edward served as animation producer for the Annie Award-winning and Oscar-nominated stop-motion feature "Marcel the Shell With Shoes On," produced by the New York indie studio Cinereach and distributed by A24. More recently, he produced the stop-motion holiday special "Alien Xmas" for Netflix, with executive producer Jon Favreau; the special premiered in November 2020 and continues to be popular during the holiday season. Other projects include animation producer on "Emily at the Edge of Chaos," producing indie features "Beyond Paranormal," and developing three additional indie films: "Sunday Dinner," "La Reina," and "Mikki and Lola."
His other producing credits include three television pilots: "Team Smithereen" for Disney XD, "Earth versus Everything" for Wildbrain/DHX, and "Felt" for Relativity Real, which was picked up by Logo Network for an eight-episode run. He also produced Matteo Ribaudo's short film "Ophelia," his feature "Broome Street Boys," executive produced Ghost Works, LLC’s short "Night of the Little Dead," and produced Sam K. Hale's short film "Yamasong." Throughout his career, Edward has collaborated with nearly every major studio and television network.
Edward’s special effects work appears in films such as Steve Carell's "Dinner for Schmucks," Matt Stone and Trey Parker's "Team America: World Police," Jon Favreau's "Elf," Spike Lee's "Tales from the Hood," "Pee-wee's Big Adventure," "Apt Pupil," "Darkman," "RoboCop," "Sword and the Sorcerer," and all four "Critters" films.
His television credits include effects director of photography on Frank Herbert's "Dune" (2000-2001 Primetime Emmy Award), executive producer roles on "The Crayon Box," "The Mr. Potato Head Show," "The Simpsons" (2000-2001 Primetime Emmy Award), "Skwid Zone," "Shelly Duvall's Faerie Tale Theater," "Goosebumps," the Emmy Award-winning "Adventures in Wonderland," "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Next Generation," "The All-New Land of the Lost," Emmy-nominated "Crash the Curiousaurus," and the Grammy Award-winning "Thriller" documentary, "The Making of Thriller.
