Allison Abbate, a BAFTA-winning producer, is known for her work on Iron Giant and Tim Burton's Corpse Bride.
Building a career around innovative animated films, Abbate, originally from New York, moved to Hollywood in 1989. There, she began at Disney and worked as an artistic coordinator on Tim Burton's cult favorite The Nightmare Before Christmas.
She later relocated to Paris for The Walt Disney Company to establish their satellite animation studio and co-produce the Academy Award-nominated Mickey Mouse short Runaway Brain.
In 1996, Abbate joined Warner Bros., co-producing the international hit Space Jam, which blended classic Warner Bros. animated characters with live action, starring Bugs Bunny, Michael Jordan, and Bill Murray. This film was a groundbreaking blend of animation and live action.
In 1999, she earned a BAFTA award as the producer of Brad Bird's Iron Giant, an internationally praised adaptation of Ted Hughes' children's book The Iron Man.
Following Iron Giant, she produced Looney Tunes: Back in Action, a family comedy featuring Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Brendan Fraser, and Steve Martin. In 2004, Abbate moved to London to produce Corpse Bride, a haunting musical directed by Tim Burton, starring Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter. The film received an Oscar nomination in 2005.
In 2006, she collaborated with filmmaker Wes Anderson to produce Fantastic Mr. Fox, a stop-motion adaptation of Roald Dahl's beloved story, featuring the voices of George Clooney and Meryl Streep.
Currently, Allison has reunited with Tim Burton to produce Frankenweenie, a stop-motion animated feature based on one of Tim's early live-action shorts.
