Thomas Golubic is a Los Angeles-based Emmy-nominated music supervisor, Grammy-nominated record producer, and DJ. His music supervision work includes the AMC series Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, Better Call Saul, Halt and Catch Fire; HBO's Six Feet Under; Netflix’s Grace & Frankie and Love; Amazon’s Sneaky Pete; and Showtime’s Ray Donovan, among numerous other film and television projects. In 2017, he earned a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Music Supervision for Better Call Saul Season 3. Since 2017, Thomas has been President of the Guild of Music Supervisors, a founding member of the organization. The Guild has honored him twice with "Best Music Supervision in a Television Drama" awards for Breaking Bad.
He received two Grammy nominations for producing volumes one and two of the Six Feet Under soundtrack albums in 2003 and 2006. Alongside former partner Gary Calamar, he was instrumental in featuring Sia's "Breathe Me" in the series finale, a moment regarded as one of television’s most iconic music uses that helped launch Sia’s career in America. Thomas has also produced soundtrack albums for Better Call Saul, The Walking Dead, Halt and Catch Fire, and Breaking Bad, and penned the liner notes for the Breaking Bad 10th Anniversary 5-Album Box Set. Additionally, he has curated remix projects for EMI-Capitol Records and MGM, including fresh takes on Peggy Lee, The Beach Boys, Henry Mancini’s Pink Panther theme, and EMI’s Christmas Classics remix album 'Merry Mixmas.'
His early musical development took place as a DJ, music programmer, and on-air host at influential LA radio station KCRW 89.9 FM. After concluding a decade-long residency at KCRW, he shifted focus to music production and live audio/video DJ performances. He founded The Arbiters, a music collective creating mash-up music and video productions, releasing two free EPs in 2006 and 2010, and producing audio and video mash-ups for clients such as Google, YouTube, Microsoft, and Levi's.
Thomas has gained recognition as an innovative club DJ known for eclectic sets often accompanied by live synchronized visuals. His SYNCHRONIZE re-score project, featuring live DJ re-scores of classic films, has been showcased at the Sundance Film Festival, Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, Toronto’s Luminato Festival, Dubrovnik Film Festival, U.S. Comedy Arts Festival, various Los Angeles residencies, and has been featured on Turner Classic Movies.
Since September 2017, Thomas has served as President of the Guild of Music Supervisors, a nonprofit dedicated to promoting and supporting the craft of music supervision through education, advocacy, and recognition of excellence. Under his leadership, the annual GMS 'State of Music in Media' Conference grew to over 700 attendees in 2018, the GMS Awards show sold out, and a monthly GMS newsletter and podcast were launched. Thomas is committed to fostering greater diversity within the community, encouraging professional respect and collaboration, and inspiring the next generation of music supervisors.
