Rob Pinkston began acting at 13 while in Jr. High School, participating in several short film projects that sparked his passion for the industry. On his 16th birthday, he secured a recurring role on Nickelodeon's Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide (2004).
Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide follows the quirky adventures of Ned Bigby (Devon Werkheiser), who offers advice on overcoming junior high challenges. "Each episode takes a week to film," Rob shares, "and I get to work with an amazing group of people." His co-stars include Jim J. Bullock (Too Close for Comfort, 1980), Meshach Taylor (Designing Women, 1986), and Fred Savage (The Wonder Years, 1988). Rob portrays Coconut Head, a character named after a disastrous haircut. "My mom cut my hair right before the first day of school," Rob recalls, "and it ended up shaped like a coconut! Definitely not a great first impression!" He appeared in all three seasons, totaling over 42 episodes.
Rob also featured in MTV's Punk'd alongside Ashton Kutcher, appearing in five episodes where he helped orchestrate pranks on celebrities such as tennis star Serena Williams, basketball player Dirk Nowitzki, actor Zach Braff (Scrubs, 2001), and singers Joss Stone and JoJo.
In the film The Derby Stallion (2005), Rob co-starred with Zac Efron (Disney's High School Musical, 2006) and Crystal Hunt (Guiding Light, 1952). Filmed in North Georgia, this family movie centers on a boy aspiring to become an equestrian champion.
Rob filmed The Sasquatch Gang (2006) on location in Portland, Oregon, alongside Jeremy Sumpter (Peter Pan, 2003), Justin Long (Live Free or Die Hard, 2007; Accepted, 2006), and Carl Weathers (Rocky, 1976). Produced by the team behind Napoleon Dynamite (2004), the movie premiered at the Slamdance Film Festival, where it won Best Comedy.
He had the opportunity to work with Whoopi Goldberg in If I Had Known I Was a Genius (2007), playing a mischievous kid causing chaos in a large warehouse store. The film, also starring Markus Redmond and Sharon Stone, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2007.
Rob portrayed a wheelchair-bound teenager in the Dimension Films comedy Extreme Movie (2008), an irreverent sketch film reminiscent of The Kentucky Fried Movie (1977). The cast included Vanessa Lengies (American Dreams, 2002), Frankie Muniz (Malcolm in the Middle, 2000), and Ryan Pinkston (Soul Plane, 2004). In the film, Rob and Ryan played school friends, marking their first collaboration despite their long acquaintance and shared surname.
His voice work includes roles on Cartoon Network's Ben 10 (2005), PBS's Danger Rangers (2003), various video games, commercials, and the Canada 360 movie experience at Walt Disney's EPCOT.
Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, Rob has resided in Los Angeles since third grade. Additional credits include Undercover Kids (2004), The Honor System (2003), and The Metro Chase (2004) with Jon Cryer and Tara Lipinski.
Rob co-hosts Elizabeth Stanton's Great Big World (2011), traveling with Elizabeth and friends to exciting destinations worldwide.
A dedicated professional, Rob trains with Dennis LaValle at LaValle Actor's Workshop, Jeremiah Comey at Jeremiah Comey's Acting Studio, Andrew Magarian at Simply Acting, and receives private voice coaching from Marnie Cooper and Ginny McSwain. He is currently pursuing a BA in Film at the Art Center College of Design.
