Don Carmody has been producing films and television for nearly 40 years. His portfolio includes over 100 projects, featuring hits like Porky's and Porky's II, the iconic A Christmas Story, the Weekend At Bernie's series, The Late Shift (which earned seven Emmy® nominations and three Cable Ace awards), and Chicago, which won six Academy Awards®, including Best Picture.
Recently, Carmody produced his sixth blockbuster in the Resident Evil franchise—Resident Evil: The Final Chapter—starring Milla Jovovich and directed by Paul W.S. Anderson. He also produced The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Lena Headey, Lily Collins, and Kevin Zegers, as well as Pompeii, an epic swords-and-sandals film featuring Kiefer Sutherland, Kit Harington, Emily Browning, and Carrie-Anne Moss.
Carmody has received numerous awards, including the Canadian Academy of Cinema and Television's Golden Screen Award, which recognizes the highest-grossing Canadian feature film—a distinction he has earned an unprecedented nine times.
In 2013, he founded Don Carmody Television (DCTV), a division of Don Carmody Productions (DCP). Current DCTV projects include the Rogers-Netflix original series Between; the Emmy®-nominated mini-series The Secret Life of Marilyn Monroe for Lifetime; ShadowHunters, based on Cassandra Clare's The Mortal Instruments book series, airing on ABC Family and recently renewed for a third season; and Tokyo Trials, a six-hour mini-series for Netflix about the Tokyo war crimes tribunal following World War II.
Carmody is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. He serves on the board of the Canadian Media Producers Association and the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television. Additionally, he belongs to the Producers Guild of America, the Directors Guild of America, the Directors Guild of Canada, and several other industry organizations.
