జీవిత చరిత్ర
Alberto Simone is a renowned multi-award-winning film writer, director, and producer with a career spanning over 20 years across Theater, Music, Television, Advertising, Documentary, and Cinema. Born in Messina, a small town in southern Italy, he moved early to Rome, where he studied Psychology. In 1986, he specialized in Individual and Group Psychotherapy and PTSD Therapy. His professional journey began in 1984 in advertising as a copywriter, creating numerous successful campaigns. By 1986, he became the creative director at Foote, Cone & Belding, a multinational agency responsible for most Renault campaigns. In 1987, he founded Well Comm, an agency that developed campaigns for Greenpeace, the League for the Environment, the Prime Minister's Cabinet, and the Italian Episcopal Conference. The agency also handled commercials for brands like Alitalia, Nivea, Grigio Perla, Rizzoli, and Bose, many of which Simone directed.
During this period, Simone maintained his interest in psychology, collaborating with the Maieusis Therapeutic Community in Capena near Rome, where he led creative expression sessions for young mentally ill residents. This experience inspired him to write and direct the 1993 short film La Scala Poggiata alla Luna (A Ladder to the Moon), which earned Nanni Moretti's nomination at the first Sacher Festival and won the Silver Sacher Prize. The documentary led him to write the screenplay for his first feature film, Colpo di Luna (Moon Shadow).
In 1993, together with his wife Roberta Manfredi, Simone founded Dauphine Film Company, an independent production company that produced Colpo di Luna (1995), which he wrote and directed. The film was nominated at the 45th Berlin Film Festival, winning the Jury Special Mention, and received the Golden Globe of Foreign Press in Italy for Best Italian Director, along with several international awards, including the Coupe O Cour du Jury at the 1996 Paris Film Festival.
Simone frequently collaborates with Italy's primary public broadcaster, RAI, as a writer, director, and producer, creating some of the most successful TV movies and series in recent years. He wrote and partly directed three seasons of the acclaimed series Linda e il Brigadiere (1996–1999). He wrote and directed Una Storia Qualunque (2000), a two-part film watched by over 11 million viewers, followed by Le Ragioni Del Cuore (2001), a six-episode series he wrote and partially directed. In 2002, he wrote and directed Un Difetto di Famiglia (A Family Flaw), a TV movie featuring a soundtrack by Academy Award winner Ennio Morricone, viewed by more than 8 million people. The film won the Grolla D'Oro (2003) for Best Original Screenplay and the Ninfe D'Or for Best Screenplay at the Festival du Television in Monte Carlo, France.
In 2005, Simone wrote, directed, and produced Una Famiglia in Giallo, a TV series that earned him the Best Director Award at the 58th International Film Festival of Salerno. In 2008, he wrote and directed the TV movie In Nome del Figlio (In the Name of the Son), which won Best Screenwriting at the 2009 Rome Fiction Festival. In 2009, RAI released Il Commissario Manara, a highly successful TV series whose first two seasons averaged over 6 million viewers per episode. Recently, Simone wrote, directed, and composed the soundtrack for the documentary film Meeting the Master - Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, filmed in India and featuring one of the greatest spiritual masters and humanitarian leaders of our time.
In 2010, he founded Navaratri Entertainment LLC in Los Angeles and is currently working on the American remake of his film Family Flaw, now in pre-production. He has recently relocated to New York, where he currently lives and works.
