Virginia Marie Cook was born on February 10, 1907, in Greenville, Florida, to silent film actress Estelle Gouldin and Howard B. Cook. In 1909, the family relocated to Los Angeles, and in October 1913, Virginia enrolled at the Hollywood School for Girls, where she studied until graduating in 1923. Among her instructors was Edith Head, and her classmates included Cecilia de Mille, Agnes de Mille, Irene Mayer, Valentine Black, Julanne Johnston, and Jean Harlow. Throughout her career, Virginia worked as a writer for film, television, and radio, collaborating with MGM, Paramount Studios, Universal, Banner Productions, and Twentieth Century-Fox Studios. Additionally, she was involved in advertising for M H Kelso Company, Nesbitt, and Walter K. Neill. Virginia was represented by the Pat Holmes Agency.
