Nakai Takawira, born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, is a rising young actor whose natural talent and passion for her craft have helped her build an impressive body of work at a young age. She gained her first set experience just days before turning seven and, now at 16, has appeared in numerous projects spanning television, voiceover, and commercials. Nakai takes great pride in delivering exceptional performances.
Her notable roles include the lead role of Andrea in Jonathan Judge’s "My Weird School," a guest appearance as Friday on Netflix’s "A Series of Unfortunate Events," and the lead role of young Simone Biles in Vanessa Parise’s Lifetime movie "Simone Biles Story: Courage to Soar." She has also appeared in "DC’s Legends of Tomorrow" and the "Gumboot Kids" TV series. In voiceover work, Nakai has starred as Niah in the animated series "Team Zenko Go," voiced characters in "The Breakfast Club of Canada," held a recurring role as Betsy Roar in "Chip and Potato," and contributed to Fisher Price projects. Her commercial credits include campaigns for Aleve, Proctor & Gamble’s 2018 "Thank You Mom" campaign, Bose Headphones, and Reddi Wip.
Fluent in English, French, and German, Nakai is a science enthusiast and versatile athlete. Her engaging and quick-witted nature makes her a dedicated and adaptable student of acting. She has trained with industry professionals such as Sarah-Jane Redmond and Robyn Ross, received voiceover instruction from Halfyard Productions, and studied Creative Drama at Arts Umbrella. Motivated by a desire to support others, especially children her age, Nakai volunteers annually at the SFU Phi Delta Epsilon Fraternity’s "Anatomy Fashion Show" and Vancouver Kids Fashion Week, both fundraisers for BC Children’s Hospital.
Always eager to embrace new opportunities, Nakai is known for being a joy to work with both on and off set.
