Born in Mexico City to a Mexican father and Chilean mother, Christian's Hispanic and Indigenous American heritage partly originates from the small village of Lanz in Navarra, Spain, which still carries his family name. The Lanz family established roots in rural Campeche, Mexico in the late 1600s, with later generations moving westward to Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, and eventually settling in Mexico City.
Christian lived across Mexico and Latin America for more than 16 years before becoming a naturalized U.S. citizen. He later relocated to Hollywood, where he established himself as one of the industry's leading bilingual voice actors. Fluent and accent-free in both English and Spanish, Christian Lanz perfectly embodies the voice of today’s cross-cultural U.S. media landscape.
A recipient of eight Voice Arts Awards and nominated thirty-two times, Christian has lent his voice to thousands of commercials, promos, and movie trailers in both languages. Beyond animation and video games, he is a seasoned voiceover announcer. Since 2015, he has been the live announcer for major network broadcasts including The Daytime Emmy Awards, The LA Emmy Awards, The Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards, The Children’s and Family Emmys, The TV Land Awards, The American Cinematheque Awards, and Hallmark Channel’s Hero Dog Awards. He is also a member of the Television Academy.
Christian’s education began at The Mirman School in Los Angeles and continued at The Oakwood School in North Hollywood, CA, where he attended alongside actor Chris Pine. After high school, he spent a summer working as a ranch hand in southern Chile before enrolling at Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City. There, he pursued architecture from 1995 to 2000. During his studies, he worked as a translator, English teacher, and certified personal trainer. In 2001, he was nominated for the prestigious Premio Pani Architectural Award for his sustainable and green design work.
As a young immigrant, Christian learned English at six by watching legendary voice actor Frank Welker as "Fred" in the original "Scooby-Doo" animated series. Three decades later, he had the honor of working alongside Welker on Cartoon Network’s "Scooby-Doo: Mystery Incorporated," joining the cast in its second season, and appeared in several other "Scooby-Doo" series and films.
Among Christian’s notable animation and video game roles are the self-important and cunning "Chancellor Esteban" on Disney’s Emmy-winning "Elena of Avalor," the iconic Batman villain "Two-Face/Harvey Dent" in the "LEGO Batman: Family Matters" film, the merciless "Xever" (and his mutant alter-ego "Fishface") on Nickelodeon’s "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles," and "Puss in Boots" for DreamWorksTV—a role that earned him his first of two consecutive Voice Arts Awards for Best TV Animation Voiceover in 2016.
In his free time, Christian enjoys boating, playing guitar in his home recording studio, snowboarding, photography, and engaging in home improvement and design projects. A passionate automotive enthusiast and lifelong aviation fan, he also loves tuning performance cars, taking road trips with his two sons, and spending weekends at their mountain cabin in Lake Arrowhead, CA.
