జీవిత చరిత్ర
Simon Yin, originally from Atlanta, GA, is a director, actor, and TV host. Behind the scenes, he directs and produces feature films, television shows, commercials, music videos, and corporate films through his production company, Mustard. His feature film directorial debut came in 2012 with the financial thriller Supercapitalist, shot in New York, Hong Kong, and Macau, starring Linus Roache, Kenneth Tsang, and Richard Ng. Recently, Simon has been actively directing television content for AXN, Discovery Channel, FOX, FOX Sports, NBC/Universal, and DIVA, including the award-winning series Freedom Riders Asia with Charley Boorman, Cyril Takayama's Rio Magic, and Asia's Got Talent, the world’s largest talent show. Simon and Mustard also co-created and produced the original broadcast program The History Hustle, which premiered online and garnered over 1 million views within a week.
In front of the camera, Simon’s distinctive presence is marked by his chubby appearance. He began as a TV host on Turner Networks in Atlanta, then worked as an MTV VJ in New York. In Asia, he has hosted his own shows on FOX, Starworld, Channel V, and currently hosts History Channel’s top-rated show Hidden Cities Extreme, which was nominated in 2014 for Best Entertainment Programme and Best Lifestyle Programme at the 19th Annual Asian Television Awards. Simon himself was nominated and won Best Entertainment Host/Presenter. He also headlines The History Hustle.
On the big screen, Simon has played a range of characters, from the sly eunuch in Roger Corman’s Hell’s Haunted Palace to a menacing Thai thug in the French auctioneer film Borderland. He also stars in Universal’s kung fu action movie Man with the Iron Fists 2 (directed by Roel Reine), portraying Cha Pow, a dim-witted but lovable character driven by love and a heart of gold. His latest film, Birth of the Dragon (directed by George Nolfi), premiered at TIFF 2016, where he plays Vinnie Wei, one of Bruce Lee’s proudest (in his own mind) students and a devoted mama’s boy.
In his free time, Simon enjoys writing engaging bios about himself, watching movies, riding motorcycles, shooting hoops, dating, buying camera equipment, playing PS4, reading, taking baths, buying Air Jordans for his nephew, causing a little mischief, daydreaming, living in the moment, and eating hot pot.
