Jeremy (Ray) Valdez has maintained a consistent career since arriving in Hollywood. He earned the 2010 Imagen Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in La Mission alongside Benjamin Bratt. Valdez has also ventured into production, having produced his first feature film, Dreamer, with several other projects underway.
Originally from New Mexico, Valdez went to school in Arizona before moving to Los Angeles, where he quickly began working. His early roles included national commercials for brands like Coca Cola, McDonald's, Six Flags, Verizon, and Toys R Us.
Valdez refined his acting craft and landed his first network TV guest role on Family Law. He went on to have recurring roles on popular shows such as ER, Veronica Mars, Medical Investigation, and American Family, as well as guest appearances on 24, CSI: NY, JAG, The Mentalist, CSI: Miami, Without a Trace, The Closer, Longmire, and more. He starred as a young Jack Bauer in the FOX.com web series The Rookie, a 24 spin-off, for three seasons. Valdez also starred in Carlos Avila’s JUNKYARD SAINTS, featured on the Emmy-winning PBS series Independent Lens. Additionally, he appeared in HBO's critically acclaimed TV movie Walkout, directed by Edward James Olmos, and in Alan Ball’s dark comedy pilot All Signs of Death.
On the big screen, Valdez chooses roles that bring depth to stories sparking meaningful conversations about life’s complexities, as seen in La Mission, which opened the Sundance and San Francisco Film Festivals. His other notable films include All She Can (Sundance 2010), Blaze You Out, Dreamer, H.O.M.E., and Mission Park (also known as Line of Duty).
Beyond acting, Valdez showcases musical talents rooted in his upbringing in a family of musicians. He began studying music at age 10, attended the Musicians Institute, and currently plays guitar for various artists around Los Angeles. An active charity volunteer, Valdez supports Autism Speaks, The National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts, GLAAD, and was chosen by Michelle Obama to participate in her Read Across America campaign.
