Paul Cajero was born on July 5, 1942, in Morenci, Arizona, as the eldest son of Nick and Josephine Cajero. He was raised in Tucson, Arizona, and graduated from Tucson High School in 1960. Paul earned a BA in Theatre Arts from the University of Arizona in 1965 and pursued postgraduate studies at the University of California, Los Angeles. He enjoyed a rewarding 50-year career in television.
His career began in 1965 as one of the first tour guides on the Universal Studios Hollywood Studio Tour. He quickly advanced into production, joining the team managing the television production office at Universal, where he handled scheduling and coordination of soundstages for various TV productions. At 30, seeking to be directly involved on set, he entered the Directors Guild Assistant Directors Training Program and later served on its Board. Throughout his career, he worked as an assistant director, unit production manager, producer, director, and writer on over 30 television series, including Magnum, P.I., Simon & Simon, Quantum Leap, Baywatch, Sliders, Kingpin, Arrested Development, Weeds, Dirty Sexy Money, Lincoln Heights, and Justified.
Paul had a deep passion for live theater, crime and mystery novels, the Blues, L.A. Lakers basketball, Arizona Wildcats football, outplaying friends at poker and chess, a good joke, and, most of all, his mother Joby’s famous enchiladas.
