Velson D'Souza, a Brazilian actor from Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo, is based in Los Angeles, CA.
He is recognized on Brazilian television for his roles in primetime shows such as "Cristal" (SBT) as Marcel, "Revelação" (SBT) as Bruno Fernandes, and "Vende-se um Véu de Noiva" (SBT) as Cauã.
Following a successful career in Brazil, Velson moved to New York City to earn his MFA in Acting from The New School for Drama. He made his New York stage debut as Cal Donovan in "Atalanta K.O." by D.L. Siegel, directed by Gamaliel Valle. He also appeared as Norry, a drag queen, in "Clean" by Edwin Sanchez, and as Yakov in "The Seagull," directed by Elinor Renfield, among other Off-Broadway productions.
In Brazilian theater, Velson has performed in works by Molière, John Fowles, Torero, Shakespeare, Gaultier, Pinter, Arthur Azevedo, and Enda Walsh. He received a Femsa Coca-Cola Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his role as William in Enda Walsh's "Chatroom," and a nomination for Best Actor for his performance in the Commedia dell'Arte play "A Odisseia de Arlequino," written by Marilia Toledo. He won the Femsa Award for Best Cast as Zé in "A Sessão da Tarde" ("Afternoon's Session") and the APCA Award for Best Cast as Capitano in "A Odisseia de Arlequino" ("The Harlequin's Odyssey"). On television, his credits include "Cidadão Brasileiro" (Record), "Cristal" (SBT) as Marcel, "Revelação" (SBT) as Bruno, and "Vende-se um Véu de Noiva" (SBT) as Cauã.
After his last work in Brazil, the play "O Poeta e as Andorinhas" in 2011, Velson relocated to New York City to pursue his MFA at The New School for Drama.
