Roy Wells Gordon, the third of four sons of John W. Gordon and Nancy Ellen Wells Gordon, was born on October 18, 1884, in Beaver Village, Pike County, Ohio. Shortly after, the family relocated to Portsmouth, Ohio, where Roy was raised. Passionate about theater and acting from a young age, he chose to pursue it as a career. Throughout the 1910s, 1920s, and early 1930s, he appeared in dramas and musicals as a tenor in Portsmouth, Columbus, Baltimore, Chicago, and on Broadway in New York City. In the late 1930s, Roy moved to Los Angeles to become a film actor, a profession he maintained for the remainder of his life. He took on numerous supporting roles, both credited and uncredited, often portraying bankers, businessmen, judges, senior military officers, and other authority figures in his later years. He also appeared in many television series. Roy Gordon passed away at 87 on July 23, 1972, in Encino, Los Angeles County, California.
