Bozidar Oreskovic, a Croatian actor (Zagreb, August 21, 1942 – Kozjaca, July 9, 2010), was a leading figure at the Croatian National Theater in Zagreb. He is remembered by the public for his numerous film and television roles. His presence, convincing theatrical performance, and ability to transform into a wide range of characters made him a captivating actor, whose every stage appearance was notably impactful. With an exceptional recitative talent, striking looks, distinctive voice, and expressive acting, he enriched the depth and intuition of the characters he portrayed and enhanced the overall theatrical productions he joined.
He graduated from the Zagreb Academy of Dramatic Arts in 1965 and subsequently became a member of the Zagreb National Theater. Some of his notable roles include Joe (H. Pinter, Il ritorno), Pomet (M. Drzic, Uncle Maroje), Seminarian (F.M. Dostoevsky, The Demons), Ljovka (I.E. Babel, Twilight), Othello (W. Shakespeare), Marko Baric (M. Begovic, Without the Third), Andrija Hebrang (A. Vuletic), The Architect (A. Soljan, Diocletian's Palace), Brack (H. Ibsen, Hedda Gabler), Jura (Z. Zoricic, Steak Tartare), and Vanya and Cvak (B. Glumac, Zagreb, Who is Who in Croatia). He founded Theater 101, adapted and directed Shakespeare’s Othello, in which he also played the lead role. Additionally, he wrote and performed the drama Top Secret, the monodrama The Horse for Spritz, and the piece Slowly Grind the Mills of the Lord (based on Krleza’s war diaries). He authored the novel The Seventh Day (1993). Among his film credits are Wild Angels (F. Hadzic, 1969), Lo sparo (K. Golik, 1977), and How the War Started on My Island (V. Bresan, 1996). His television work includes The Kapelski Bonfires, The Cat Under the Helmet, and Inspector Vinko.

"Today’s politicians offer empty hands... we must, we need... But what do they actually offer? I don’t know. All I see is that they want to take us... where? So we must stay here. I want to stay here; I don’t want to go somewhere else. I want to communicate, to reach certain standards, but I don’t want to leave! I want to remain in this country, to be a part of its development. I want that, and I will pursue it as an actor, which is why I try to express it through this role of the president.
