Hayley Carr was named after Oscar-winning actress Hayley Mills. Coincidentally, at age 11, after seven successful years in theater, commercials, and television, Hayley was cast as Mills' daughter in the Disney film Back Home. She also received rare introductory billing for the World War II drama, just as Hayley Mills did at the same age. The critical acclaim for Back Home led to Hayley landing the role of James Caan's daughter in Bette Midler's film For The Boys, followed by a role alongside Richard Crenna in the CBS movie of the week, A Place to Be Loved.
With over 30 commercials, print ads in Time Magazine, a Star Search win, and starring roles on ThirtySomething, Alice, Highway to Heaven, and Baywatch, Hayley was personally selected by NBC's Brandon Tartikoff for his series Act II, and by Aaron Spelling for the weekly cop drama Hope Division.
As Hayley transitioned from child actress to adult roles, she sought challenging parts, starring with Paul Bethany and Olivia Williams in the dark comedy Dead Babies, a film adaptation of the 1975 novel by renowned British author Martin Amis.
Hayley also had the unique opportunity to perform live as comedic legend John Cleese's sidekick alongside Eric Idle, Robin Williams, and Joan Rivers in The Prince's Trust Comedy Gala: We Are Most Amused, celebrating HRH Prince Charles, Prince of Wales' 60th birthday. The event was attended by HRH Prince Charles, HRH Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, and Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex.
More recently, Hayley has expanded her career to include writing, producing, and creating, with her first pilot, a comedy titled UTOPIA, being optioned by the BBC.
