Francesco Pannofino was born in Pieve di Teco, Liguria. As a teenager, he discovered his comedic talent and began performing with small theatre companies. At 14, he moved to Rome, starting his career in radio and dubbing. He pursued acting further by joining Antonella Steni's company after working at the Teatro Stabile in Trieste. In the 1980s, he achieved success alongside Gigi Angelillo and Ludovica Modugno, forming a comedy trio. During the 1990s, he voiced Tom Hanks in Forrest Gump and Denzel Washington in Philadelphia, which elevated him to voice acting fame. He became the Italian voice for actors such as George Clooney and Antonio Banderas. On Italian television, he appeared in popular series including Carabinieri and La Squadra. In the 2000s, he acted in films like Cristina Comencini's Liberate i pesci!, Davide Marengo's Notturno Bus, Genovese and Miniero's Questa notte è ancora nostra, Claudio Cupellini's Lezioni di Cioccolato, Fausto Brizzi's Maschi contro femmine, and Ogni maledetto Natale by Giacomo Ciarrapico, Mattia Torre, and Luca Vendruscolo. He participated in the production of Sky’s cult series Boris, which also had a cinematic release. He appeared in Cesaroni and Un medico in famiglia and starred as the lead in the series Nero Wolfe. In 2013, he featured in Adriano Olivetti: La forza di un sogno directed by Michele Soavi. On TV, he hosted the 2012 Concerto del Primo Maggio and appeared in Emigratis, Miss Italia: Gli esami, and narrated the record-breaking ratings show Meraviglie: La penisola dei tesori. Marking the twentieth anniversary of the Harry Potter saga, he lent his voice to the complete audiobook series by J.K. Rowling. In summer 2018, he performed in Aristophanes' comedy The Knights at the Greek Theatre in Syracuse and toured with G. Clementi’s play Bukurosh, mio nipote. He was part of the casts of the films Il caso Pantani and Nati due volte and voiced Animali fantastici: Dove trovarli for Audible. He performed on the stage of Teatro Piccolo Eliseo in Io vendo le emozioni and appeared in Si muore solo da vivi. On television, he participated in Tale e Quale Show and Fox’s Romolo + Giuly: La guerra mondiale italiana. He provided the voice of Klaus in the Netflix animated film of the same name and narrated Sky Arte’s project Io, Leonardo. Since 2020, he has toured with Mine Vaganti and taken part in the programs Moviemagic and E poi c’è Cattelan. He acted in Il tempio della velocità directed by T. Cenname and Quelle brave ragazze, and returned to his iconic role in Boris 4. In 2021, he appeared in several films: E. Ivone’s Ostaggi, A. Ferrari’s The Christmas Show, F. Albanese’s Uomini da marciapiede, G. Amato’s Lo sposo indeciso che non poteva (o forse non voleva) uscire dal bagno, and L. Gualano’s La guerra del Tiburtino III.
