William Ross is an award-winning composer and arranger known for his extensive work in feature films, television, and the recording industry. He recently composed the score for Universal Pictures' first CGI-animated film, The Tale of Despereaux (2008), and has created music for films including Ladder 49 (2004), The Game of Their Lives (2005), Tuck Everlasting (2002), The Young Black Stallion (2003), and My Dog Skip (2000). He also adapted and conducted the score for Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002).
In television, he scored the acclaimed mini-series Life with Judy Garland: Me and My Shadows (2001) and composed the Emmy-winning music for the Tiny Toon Adventures (1990) episode "Fields of Honey."
Ross has arranged music for a distinguished group of artists such as Barbra Streisand, Céline Dion, Josh Groban, Andrea Bocelli, Michael Bublé, Kenny G, Sting, Quincy Jones, David Foster, Bette Midler, Barry Manilow, Mariah Carey, and Whitney Houston. The albums he contributed to have sold over 250 million copies in the U.S.
He has served as Music Director and Conductor for numerous artists and events, including Barbra Streisand's concert tours in 2006 and 2007, and the 79th Annual Academy Awards (2007), where he earned his second Emmy Award.
His arrangements have appeared in many films, featuring hits like Andrea Bocelli's "God Bless Us Everyone" from Disney's A Christmas Carol (2009), Céline Dion's "My Heart Will Go On" from Titanic (1997), Josh Groban's "Believe" from The Polar Express (2004), "The Prayer" by Andrea Bocelli and Céline Dion from Quest for Camelot (1998), and the Academy Award-nominated "Run To You" performed by Whitney Houston in The Bodyguard (1992).
Ross's arrangements have been showcased in several Super Bowl opening ceremonies and the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympic Games in Calgary (1988), Atlanta (1996), Salt Lake City (2002), Torino (2006), and Vancouver (2010). He won an Emmy Award in 2009 for Outstanding Original Music for the "Hugh Jackman Opening Number" featured during the 81st Annual Academy Awards (2009).
He has received four Emmy Awards, two BMI Film Music Awards, and an Annie Award nomination.
