Born prematurely with a camera in hand, Jerry Cavallaro was already ahead of his time. Legend says he even filmed his own birth. From an early age, he recognized the magic of filmmaking and knew it was his calling. At 9, he began regularly reading books about filmmaking. A year later, he received his first video camera for Christmas, though it was a cheap toy that never worked. By 12, he was a film enthusiast, using his dad's hi-8 camera to create low-budget movies that no one ever saw. At 15, he purchased his own camera and started making slightly higher-quality films, though they still went largely unnoticed. These projects grew in scale and spanned genres from comedy to horror to documentary, finally catching some attention. One of his proudest moments was interviewing his idol, Kevin Smith, who greatly influenced his filmmaking style. He also interviewed his favorite comedy actor, Chris Elliott, with whom he has maintained contact. Now 20, Jerry runs a mini-film studio from his bedroom, has read over 100 books on filmmaking, and studies film in college. He recently completed his first feature film, Stuck Like Chuck, which he wrote, directed, edited, produced, and took on nearly every crew role, including a small acting part. Jerry gained further recognition by finishing third in the Netflix Movie Watching World Championship this October, watching films for over 68 hours straight and earning the title of New York City's Best Couch Spud in local news. His passion for filmmaking and strong determination promise a long future in movies. With a quick wit and unique personality, Jerry still hasn't quite matured.
