Marius Biegai was born on April 27, 1968, in Krakow, Poland. His family relocated to Germany in the early 1970s, and he spent most of his childhood in Berlin. His younger brother is the renowned composer Christian Biegai. Marius attended college in Ulm, earning a degree in Theatre from the Theaterakademie Spielstatt Ulm. After graduation, he worked in theatre and television in Munich and Berlin before moving to New York to pursue new artistic opportunities. There, he joined the Artaban Theatre Company (associated with Théâtre du Soleil and Robert Gourp), taught acting workshops, and enrolled in director Gene Frankel's prestigious acting Master Class, where he met Mexican actor-choreographer Veronica Falcón. They married in a simple ceremony in Mexico City in August 1998.
Later that year, they moved to Berlin and co-founded Creactors & Co., a bilingual theatre-performance company. While in Germany, Marius primarily worked in television and theater. By 2000, they decided to move back to Mexico City. Initially, Marius took on mostly commercial work with non-speaking roles while learning Spanish. Despite this, he quickly became one of the most sought-after actors in advertising, at one point appearing in ten commercials simultaneously—an unprecedented achievement, thanks to his chameleonic acting ability.
Once fluent in Spanish, Marius began receiving numerous roles across television, film, and theatre. His acting credits include dozens of short films, over twenty-five feature films, more than forty television shows, and numerous stage productions both in Mexico and internationally. His breakthrough film role was as Sasha Boginski in the box office hit Private Pérez (2011), directed by Beto Gomez, which established him firmly in the Mexican film industry.
On television, he gained stardom playing El Menona, a naive, childlike character beloved for his comedic timing, in Los héroes del norte (2010). The show became one of the most successful comedy series ever produced in Mexico. During the second season, Marius made history by simultaneously portraying two leading roles—both antagonist and protagonist—that aired at the same time on different networks, a feat rare in the industry.
He portrayed the iconic villain Dr. Hiram Alos, a neo-Nazi doctor and one of the most terrifying characters in Hispanic television, introduced in the third season of HBO’s Capadocia (2008), while still playing El Menona. This unprecedented dual presence on air across two networks was met with audience acclaim and showcased Marius's exceptional range, charisma, and talent.
Alongside his castmates, Marius won the Mexican equivalent of the People's Choice Award, the TV Novela Award, twice (2012 and 2013) for Best Ensemble Cast on a TV comedy series for Los héroes del norte. At one time, he was the most successful foreign actor working in Mexico and played a creative role in many productions as a producer, director, and creative consultant. His work spans advertising, film, theater, opera, and television. He has performed in ten languages and is fluent in German, Polish, French, Spanish, and English. In 2014, Marius moved to Los Angeles, where he lives with his wife, actress Veronica Falcón (known for Queen of the South, 2016), and their son.
