London-based New Zealand actor Issy Stewart began her career at the age of eight, performing as The Girl in Butterfly Creek Theatre Troupe's production of "Six Characters in Search of an Author." She quickly transitioned to television, securing roles in popular New Zealand series such as "Sensing Murder" and "Double Lives," while continuing her theatre work with roles like Macduff's daughter in "Macbeth" (originally a son) and Cecily Cardew in "The Importance of Being Earnest."
During this period, she trained under the internationally acclaimed acting coach Miranda Harcourt, known for working with actors including Nicole Kidman, Juliette Binoche, AnnaSophia Robb, and Dev Patel. Miranda describes Issy as "a sparky, instinctive actress with a good look."
Her later theatre credits include Juliet in "Romeo and Juliet," Olivia in "Twelfth Night," and Squealer in a musical adaptation of George Orwell's "Animal Farm," among others. At 17, Issy was cast in the lead role of Lizzie in a film adaptation of Christina Rossetti's poem "Goblin Market."
After completing high school, Issy auditioned for three acting schools, receiving callbacks from all, ultimately choosing Prague Film School in the Czech Republic. During her two years there, she signed with an agent and landed small roles in National Geographic's "Genius"; "Ophelia," alongside Daisy Ridley, Naomi Watts, and Clive Owen; Amazon Prime Video's "The Romanoffs," created by Matthew Weiner; "Lore," also on Amazon Prime; and Taika Waititi's "Jojo Rabbit." She also performed as Lavinia with the Prague Shakespeare Company in "Titus Andronicus," secured a key role as Louisa Pembroke in Amazon Prime's 2019 release "Carnival Row," starring Cara Delevingne and Orlando Bloom, and starred in the indie film "Playdurizm," set for release in 2020.
After signing with agent Dan Ireson at The Narrow Road Company, Issy relocated from Prague to London to further her acting career.
