Anne Carey is independent film and television producer with a long history of development-oriented producing, collaborating with award winning filmmakers across genres and around the world. Recent producing work includes Gone Girls: The Long Island Serial Killer (2025), 3-part Netflix docu-series directed by Liz Garbus. Nightbitch (2024), directed by Marielle Heller, starring Amy Adams; Dead Ringers (2023), the Peabody Award winning Amazon limited drama series, written by Alice Birch, starring Rachel Weisz; The Persian Version (2023) written and directed by Maryam Keshavarz, winner of the 2023 Sundance Film Festival Audience Award for U.S. Dramatic Competition, distributed by Sony Picture Classics. Netflix’s Lost Girls (2020) , based on Robert Kolker’s NY Times best seller, directed by Liz Garbus and starring Amy Adams. Notable additional credits include the Academy Award-nominated and Golden Globe-nominated Can You Ever Forgive Me? (2018) written by Jeff Whitty and Nicole Holofcener, directed by Marielle Heller and starring Melissa McCarthy and Richard E Grant; Academy Award-nominated 20th Century Women (2016) written and directed by Mike Mills and starring Annette Benning; the Independent Spirit Award-winner The Diary of a Teenage Girl (2015) written and directed by Marielle Heller; Tamara Jenkins's Academy Award nominated The Savages (2007), "Adventureland", written and directed by Greg Mottola; "The American" directed by Anton Corbijn, starring George Clooney; Tod Williams's The Door in the Floor (2004) , starring Jeff Bridges’ and The Laramie Project (2002) directed by Moises Kaufman. Carey was an executive producer on Nicole Holofcener’s "Friends with Money" written and directed by Nicole Holofcener as well as "Thumbsucker" written and directed by Mike Mills.
Carey served as President of Film and TV at Purple Pebble Pictures, Priyanka Chopra's company under Chorpa’s deal at Amazon. Carey was a Partner and President of Production at Archer Gray. Carey co-founded the independent production company This is that with Ted Hope and Anthony Bregman. Prior to that, Carey was Head of Development and a producer at the seminal independent film company Good Machine. During that period, Carey worked closely with filmmakers such as Todd Field, Ang Lee Moises Kaufman, Tamara Jenkins, Mike Mills, Nicole Holofcener and others. In addition to producing, Carey is an active mentor and lecturer and educator and a member of The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, The Producers Guild of America and Producers United.
