Dmitriy Rudovskiy is a prominent Russian film and TV producer, co-founder of Art Pictures Group, as well as a director and journalist. He was born on December 4, 1962, in Moscow. In 1986, Dmitriy graduated from MSLU and later completed studies at the Higher Courses for Scriptwriters and Directors under A. Thorstensen and O. Korvyakov. Over the years, he held various roles in media and TV production, including editor at the Main Department of Foreign Affairs (GUVS) of USSR Radio and Television; director of the program "Club Kinoputeshestvennikov" (Cinematravelers Club); and director at RGTRK "Ostankino" Studio of Popular Scientific and Educational Programs, among others.
In 2006, Dmitriy and his partner Fedor Bondarchuk co-founded the newly reorganized Art Pictures Group. In 2009, within Art Pictures Group, Rudovskiy established the distribution company Art Pictures Media, which manages theatrical, television, and DVD distribution of Art Pictures Group films. To date, Art Pictures Group has released numerous successful projects, focusing mainly on film and TV series production and distribution.
Rudovskiy's projects have earned numerous awards. For example, the 2006 animated film Christmas Tree won the Grand Prix at the National Festival of Visual Arts for "developing Russia's new animated children's hero," along with the prize for "Best Characters in Children's Animated Films" at the International Festival of Children's Animated Films. The 2008 dilogy Inhabited Island, produced by Art Pictures Group, was one of the most talked-about premieres of 2009, grossing $30 million and ranking third in the CIS box office that year. The horror film Phobos: Club of Fear was recognized as the best domestic horror film in 2010.
Among Rudovskiy's recent productions are the Audience Choice Award winner at the XIX Film Festival "Window to Europe" in Vyborg, 2 Days by Dunya Smirnova; the highly successful 2012 psychological drama Dukhless by Roman Prygunov; and the 2013 Russian box office leader, the war drama Stalingrad, directed by Fedor Bondarchuk.
Rudovskiy's upcoming projects for 2014-2015 include the animated films Baba Yaga and Savva, as well as the releases of Queen of Spades by Pavel Lungin; Yes & Yes by Valeria G. Germanica; Death's Battalion by Dmitriy Meskhiev; and the Dukhless sequel Downshifter by Roman Prygunov.
