Barbara Ann Duffy has achieved cult status in the neo-burlesque scene and beyond through her French maid persona, Bibi Poubelle. She has appeared in numerous live stage shows, films, documentaries, and publications as an actress, singer, dancer, and model. Alongside her identical twin Vera Elizabeth Duffy, known as Fifi Poubelle, she has built an international career spanning over a decade as one half of the Mexican wrestling tag team, The Poubelle Twins.
Raised in a family of animators and a graduate of the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts, Barbara has also made significant contributions to animation. She wrote, directed, and starred in Six Point Harness Studio's pilot "Twincesses," created multiple self-produced shorts, and contributed to various network series, earning two Emmy nominations for her editorial work.
Her talents extend to music, with the 2002 release of the album "Night of Joy" by her band Suki Tawdry on Soul Shard Records. Her voice has appeared in a range of projects, including Angela Bettis' directorial debut Roman, Cartoon Network's Y'All So Stupid, and the weekly comedy radio show "Simul-Trek."
Barbara hosted the largely improvised podcast "The Slap Booth Show" for one season, featuring a wide range of guests such as Robert Greene and Selene Luna. Currently, she appears on the try-weekly/monthly "Datey Ladies" podcast and performs comedy with Vera in their live "The Slap Booth Show" ("where volunteers allow us to slap them...because we are twins"), burlesque, and other variety acts across the US and internationally. She is a cast member of Toby Huss' long-running "The Rudy Casoni Boozebag Revue," appeared in Dana Gould and Dave Koechner's "Carnyville," and remains one of the few original members of Los Angeles' Lucha VaVOOM's de La Liz, the lucha libre, burlesque, and comedy spectacle.
Barbara stars in "The Mortified Guide's to Family," which screened at Sundance, and her episode "Larva My Life" from Dana Gould's "Stan Against Evil" continues to earn her quarterly royalties.
