Matty Cardarople has always aspired to be an entertainer. Hailing from Exeter, New Hampshire, he nurtured his creative spirit by amusing friends and family with his comedic talents. After relocating to Los Angeles, he studied acting at The Beverly Hills Playhouse and honed his skills under the guidance of Lesly Kahn. Cardarople’s career took off when Luke and Owen Wilson discovered him, casting him in the feature films Blonde Ambition and Drillbit Taylor.
He later appeared in major films like Jurassic World and Dumb and Dumber To, working alongside his childhood hero Jim Carrey, whom he credits as a major influence. Cardarople continued to build his resume with roles in the indie comedy The 4th, the acclaimed Amazon rom-com The Big Sick, and Steven Soderbergh’s Logan Lucky.
His breakthrough came with a leading role as Orlando, the "Hench Person of Indeterminate Gender," in Netflix’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, starring Neil Patrick Harris as Count Olaf. The show received widespread praise from both audiences and critics. Following this success, Cardarople co-starred in the popular second and third seasons of Netflix’s Stranger Things.
He also starred as Noodle in the Netflix comedy Wheels of Fortune, alongside Matt Jones, Jeff Fahey, Noureen DeWulf, and John Ducey. The film centers on a struggling mechanic and his best friend competing for a large inheritance.
Recently, Cardarople lent his voice to Preston in Archibald's Next Big Thing on Netflix. He kept busy with roles including Roger in Lazy Susan, Roy Meyer in I Am Woman, and Frank White in Hulu’s anthology series Monsterland. Additionally, he was cast as Ansel in Taika Waititi’s Reservation Dogs, Remy in Made for Love, and appeared in the Netflix animated series We Lost Our Human alongside Ben Schwartz.
He featured in the blockbuster Free Guy with Ryan Reynolds, which holds a "Fresh" rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and portrayed Clay Elliot, a distracted young father, in the romantic thriller American Cherry, directed by Marcella Cytrynowicz.
Cardarople’s television credits include appearances on New Girl, Angie Tribeca, Scrubs, Ray Donovan, You're The Worst, Comedy Bang! Bang!, Selfie, and Chasing Life.
Beyond acting, Cardarople is also a poet and artist. His first self-published poetry collection, Space Cadet, and his second, Happy Birthday Everyday, are available online. Off-screen, he supports organizations such as the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Lady Gaga's Born This Way Foundation, and local animal shelters.
He currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife, their cats, and a rescue Pomeranian named Azoun.
