Originally from Philadelphia, PA, Gervase experienced a profound loss early in life when his father died in a car accident. His mother stepped up as the primary provider and strongest influence for Gervase, his two brothers, and sister. This sudden tragedy inspired him to value every day. After graduating high school, he earned an electronics degree from Lincoln Technology and spent his free time coaching a basketball clinic at a local YMCA.
In the summer of 1999, Gervase submitted a videotape audition for the reality show "Survivor," which featured 16 contestants stranded on a deserted island relying on their own skills to survive. The show captivated over 53 million viewers, with Gervase Peterson becoming a beloved figure worldwide.
Gervase's TV presence expanded as he appeared on numerous national shows, including Late Night with David Letterman, The Tonight Show, Rosie O'Donnell, and Live With Regis. He showcased his acting and comedic skills on The Hollywood Squares, Nash Bridges, The Hughleys, VH1's The List, and MTV's Say What Karaoke. He also portrayed Jack Tripper in a Nick At Night parody of Three's Company and took on the role of Leo Thompson in the soap opera "As The World Turns."
Beyond acting, Gervase has worked as a host and news correspondent for events like MTV's Music Video Awards, MTV's Spring Break 2001, Survivor The Phenomenon, KCBS, The Early Show, and The Today Show. He has contributed written features to TV Guide, ESPN Magazine, and Playboy, and starred in the popular internet series "There Goes The Nation."
Though his initial Survivor appearance is behind him, Gervase's career continues to thrive with speaking engagements on the lecture circuit and modeling partnerships with clothing brands such as Southpole. In his free time, he enjoys family, sports, reading, and catching the latest films.
