Maria Flor Leite Calaça (born August 31, 1983), commonly known as Maria Flor, is a Brazilian actress.
She was discovered in 2002, making her debut in the film O Diabo a Quatro, which was filmed that year and released across Brazil in 2005. This marked her first leading role in a movie. Maria Flor gained recognition for her portrayal of Rê, an insecure and innovative character, in the telenovela Malhação, which was also her television debut.
In the telenovela Cabocla, she played Tina, a romantic character. To prepare for this role, Maria Flor spent nearly a month on a farm learning the lifestyle of a peasant. In the film Cazuza - O Tempo Não Pára, she portrayed a groupie following the rock band Barão Vermelho. In Quase Dois Irmãos, she played a wealthy politician’s daughter who becomes involved with a drug dealer. She represented the film’s cast at the 2005 Créteil International Women's Film Festival.
Maria Flor took on the role of a prostitute in O Diabo a Quatro, conducting research by speaking with real prostitutes and strippers. Her performance earned her the Best Actress award at the Festival de Cuiabá. In the biographical film Dois Filhos de Francisco, she played Solange, the first love of sertanejo singer Zezé Di Camargo from the duo Zezé di Camargo & Luciano.
She portrayed Taís Junqueira in the telenovela Belíssima, which premiered in November 2005. Taís is a Brazilian woman working as a prostitute in Greece after being promised a job as a ballerina, and throughout the series, she attempts to return to Brazil. In 2006, Maria Flor played Carol in the film Podecre! and Letícia in Proibido Proibir.
In 2007, she starred as Bel in the film Chega de Saudade. Her first leading role in a telenovela came the same year in Eterna Magia, where she played Nina Sullivan, a witch who refuses to use her magical powers. In 2008, she appeared in an episode of the TV series Casos e Acasos and starred in the year-end special Aline.
Her international career began with the Fernando Meirelles film 360, alongside Anthony Hopkins, Rachel Weisz, and Jude Law.
In addition to acting, Maria Flor was featured in the summer campaign for Blue Man, a bikini and Bermuda shorts manufacturer.
