Sharon Ceccatti (Hill) started her show business career singing and dancing on stage in the Pittsburgh area, mainly performing in operettas. When not working in entertainment, she supported herself as a hospital nurse at a downtown Pittsburgh hospital. She is best known for her role as the "lead zombie nurse" in the 1978 horror film Dawn of the Dead. Her portrayal has made her a horror zombie icon, especially across Europe, with her zombie nurse image featured on posters and in numerous books.
Often appearing as an uncredited extra, Sharon's film credits include Hellraiser III, Knightriders (1981), Maria's Lovers, Death Penalty, Silent Witness, Kid Brother, and many others. She has had a career spanning over 20 years as a movie and location casting director, handling principal roles, day players, and extras. Her casting work includes films such as Dominick and Eugene, starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Ray Liotta; Lady Beware, with Diane Lane and Michael Woods; Gung Ho, starring Michael Keaton; Mrs. Soffell, featuring Diane Keaton and Mel Gibson; and All The Right Moves (1983), starring Tom Cruise, Leah Thompson, and Craig T. Nelson. She has collaborated with directors like Ron Howard, George A. Romero, Michael Chapman, Andrei Konchalovsky, among others.
Following this, she served as Assistant Director of Operations for eight years at a 26,000-seat amphitheater, managing theatre operations from her backstage office. During the season, she oversaw a workforce of approximately 450 people for the shows. Notable performers during her tenure included Billy Joel, Phil Collins, Janet Jackson, Van Halen, Jimmy Buffett, AC/DC, Rod Stewart, Ozzy Osbourne, Brooks & Dunn, Steve Miller, Neil Young, Reba McIntyre, and many more. She later joined the David Copperfield Tour as his personal assistant, appearing on stage alongside the world-renowned magician. She toured globally, performing in countries such as Hungary, the Czech Republic, Chile, Argentina, Venezuela, Spain, Mexico, Canada, Switzerland, and 11 German cities, staging 500 shows annually, including performances at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas, Atlantic City, and Lake Tahoe.
More recently, Sharon has been involved in scouting locations for films. Notably, she spent a month in Spain and several days in Morocco scouting primarily for bullrings. She is also occasionally tasked with reviewing movie scripts and breaking down roles to determine the best casting choices.
