Mike was destined for action. Enlisting in HM Forces at 16, he trained as a combat frogman and specialized in small arms, explosives, and bomb disposal, joining HM Elite Special Forces RN CD and serving in numerous global operations. After leaving the military, he transitioned into the Offshore Oil Industry, quickly advancing from deep-sea diver to sub-sea Operations Manager, ultimately becoming Managing Director and owner of one of the world’s largest sub-sea consultancies based in Aberdeen. There, he also pursued his passions for fitness, power sports, sailing, and horse riding, gaining extensive expertise.
Mike competed in diverse events such as Britain’s Strongest Man, horse three-day eventing—where he won multiple competitions—and show jumping. In bodybuilding, he became Scottish Champion and qualified for international contests, earning five Masters Mr. World titles and two Mr. Universe titles with the World Fitness Federation. In 2005, he received Italy’s Grimek International Award for outstanding contributions to sport. Numerous accolades followed, including the WFF’s highest honor in 2010: induction into the Hall of Fame and the prestigious Living Legend Award.
A qualified Yacht Skipper, Mike regularly races his yacht in international regattas across the Mediterranean. His acting career began in 1994, initially due to his imposing size and presence. He appeared in Braveheart (1995) and later in films such as Gladiator (2000), The Planet (2006), One Day Removals (2008), City of Hell, Life on the Line, and had a brief role as Frank Findlay in Emmerdale Farm (1972). After winning his fifth World Fitness title, a serious heart attack in 2006 slowed him down but steered him towards acting full-time. Since then, he has worked alongside stars like Andrew Garfield, Sean Bean, David Morrissey, Peter Mullins, Tara Cardinal, John Henshaw, Billy Murray, and Craig Fairbrass.
More recently, Mike secured major roles, including filming a Vodafone corporate commercial in Turkey, participating in Skyfall (2012), and shooting the Hollywood/Italian horror Uwe Boll’s Zombie Massacre (2013) in Italy. While there, he had a cameo alongside Tara Cardinal in Legend of the Red Reaper (2013). He played Sir John Reece in Pearls of Africa (shot in Kenya and the UK), Martin in Dilip's Castle (2016), and took the second lead in the Italian fantasy thriller Morning Star (2014), portraying three roles: The King, Old Man, and Monk.
In 2016, he filmed The Legend of Mordred (2019) in the UK, where he also co-produced and acted as Drest the Bandit. He played The Ghillie in Dark Highlands (2018), filmed in Scotland’s Highlands, a film that won several awards. In October 2017, he was honored with the prestigious Order of the Scottish Samurai “Great Shogun” for outstanding charity work.
In 2018, Mike portrayed King Xalvador in Dragon Kingdom (Order of Kings) and played Father John in Islamophobia (2022), filmed across Antalya, Duce, Turkey, the Netherlands, and Germany. He also provided an English voiceover for Silent Angel (2018), showcased at Cannes. In spring 2019, he filmed Aylan Baby (2022) in Bodrum, Turkey, as an English Skipper, and later starred as an Australian Anzac Army Officer in Mendilim Kekik Kokuyor (My Handkerchief Smells of Thyme, 2020), which premiered in March 2020. For this role, he received the Best Performance of a Foreign Actor award at the Trakya Film Festival.
Currently, Mike is in pre-production on Blood Curse and The Tales of Ravna.
