After completing his MA at the State University of California, Director/Cinematographer Geoff Schaff worked in documentary filmmaking, earning 4 Emmys and 13 Emmy nominations. His documentary work includes the early reality show Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous.
Schaff’s first Hollywood cinematography credit was the 1990 film China Lake Murders, featuring Tom Skerritt and Michael Parks.
He has served as Director of Photography on hundreds of hours of episodic series such as Seaquest DSV, Fortune Hunter, Early Edition, Swamp Thing, The Burning Zone, Fire Company 132, Jack and Jill, Charmed, and more.
Schaff’s debut as a long-form director was Shelter Island, starring Ally Sheedy, Steve Baldwin, and the late Chris Penn, followed by the horror/thriller Portal. He has directed and shot over 400 documentaries of various lengths, including the feature-length Wounded Warriors/Glider project.
He has filmed movies and TV programs across Japan, China, Fiji, Croatia, Bosnia, Germany, Argentina, Peru, Venezuela, Paraguay, Brazil, Guatemala, French Polynesia, Spain, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Russia, Sweden, Belgium, Italy, France, Switzerland, Greece, the United Kingdom, and most recently Turkmenistan. Schaff is fluent in French.
