Toronto-born cinematographer Michael Jari Davidson graduated with Distinction from Western University and quickly earned a strong reputation through his diligent work ethic, creative vision, and determined spirit. Renowned for his retro classical style, Davidson gravitates toward unconventional projects and filmmakers. His work has been featured on SuperChannel and MuchMusic, screened theatrically across Canada, and showcased at international festivals such as Fantasia, Toronto After Dark, ShriekFest, Leeds, Morbido, Crypticon, and Sitges. Additionally, his work has been spotlighted in publications like Canadian Cinematographer and Kodak's InCamera.
Michael has shot nine feature films, including ANYTHING GOES, released in Canada by eOne Films, as well as music videos for major label artists including ALICE IN CHAINS (Capitol Records), DEAR ROUGE (Universal), TEGAN AND SARA (Warner), and BUCK65 (Warner). His ninth feature, FIRST ROUND DOWN, produced with support from Telefilm Canada, recently completed post-production at Deluxe Toronto and is set for release by Unobstructed View Inc.
In March 2010, Davidson was appointed Director Ex-Officio of the Canadian Society of Cinematographers, a role he held for four years. Later that year, in August 2010, he was accepted as a Director of Photography member of I.A.T.S.E. 667, the International Cinematographers Guild.
