Carmel Amit is an Israeli-Canadian actor, director, and teacher based in Vancouver, Canada. She is the middle child of Daniella Amit, a textile and ceramic artist, and Alex Amit, a robotics engineer.
Carmel completed her formal theatre training at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York and has continued to study various theatre practices and performance techniques.
She has collaborated with directors such as Ang Lee, Peter Farrelly, Kenny Ortega, and Jason Priestley, and has performed alongside actors including Nicolas Cage, Josh Duhamel, Nick Swardson, Vincent D'Onofrio, Micky Summer, Devon Sawa, and Cybill Shepherd.
Her notable roles include recurring parts in Virgin River, You Me Her, Ghost Wars, Somewhere Between, and Mistresses. She earned a Leo Award for her performance in the Lifetime movie To Have and to Hold. Carmel has appeared on major networks like Paramount, Warner Bros., USA Network, HBO, CW, ABC, SyFy, CBS, CTV, TNT, Netflix, Hallmark, and Lifetime.
As a theatre director, Carmel enjoys challenging traditional performance boundaries and experimenting with new forms. She runs an acting school and coaching business alongside her partner.
In 2018, Carmel performed in Vancouver's first immersive theatre production inspired by Sleep No More. Deep Into Darkness was a bold experience based on the life and work of Edgar Allan Poe, inviting audiences to explore fifteen characters across three floors and twenty rooms within 30,000 square feet of a historic Vancouver theatre.
In 2020, she directed Mike Bartlett’s award-winning play COCK, presented as the world’s first post-COVID live-streamed and live-performed theatre production.
In 2022, Carmel directed and produced an original one-woman show titled DOLL, staged inside her own home to create a truly immersive theatrical experience.
