Beth Dover has rapidly gained recognition in the entertainment world for her captivating on-screen characters. Known for her sharp comedic timing and improvisational skills, Dover is a rising talent to watch this year. She currently co-stars in the acclaimed Netflix series "Orange is the New Black," which has won Golden Globe, Emmy, and SAG Awards. Introduced in season three, Dover excels as Linda Ferguson, a strict administrator for MCC, the private company managing Litchfield prison. Linda is also the girlfriend of Caputo (Nick Sandow). Season five of "Orange is the New Black" premiered on June 9, 2017.
Alongside "OITNB," Dover reprises her role as Shari in Netflix's "Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later," a sequel to the eight-episode limited series "Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp." The show features Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Banks, Christopher Meloni, Janeane Garofalo, Bradley Cooper, Amy Poehler, Chris Pine, Jon Hamm, and Kristen Wiig, and was released on August 8, 2017. Dover will also return for season three of Comedy Central’s historical satire "Another Period" (release date TBA). The series follows the wealthy Bellacourt family and their servants in early 20th-century Rhode Island, 1902. Dover portrays Blanche, the long-suffering housemaid frequently admitted to mental hospitals. The show stars Natasha Leggero, Riki Lindhome, Michael Ian Black, David Wain, Christina Hendricks, Jason Ritter, and Paget Brewster.
Born in Chicago, Dover grew up in a military family, moving every two years until age 13, including a stint in South Korea. From a young age, she was passionate about creating characters and storytelling, often memorizing commercials and asking her mother to let her appear in them. She attended high school in Florida, majored in theatre in college, then relocated to New York City to study the Meisner technique. Eventually settling in Los Angeles, she discovered improv comedy and deepened her love for the art.
In 2010, Dover secured the role of Nurse Beth on Adult Swim’s satirical comedy "Childrens Hospital," starring Rob Corddry. The series parodied medical dramas and ran for seven seasons, with Dover appearing in 20 episodes. From 2012 to 2013, she played Lexie in 20 episodes of E!'s "Burning Love," a comedic spoof of dating shows like "The Bachelor," featuring Ken Marino. Her other television credits include appearances on notable comedies such as "Son of Zorn," "Bob's Burgers," "New Girl," "Truth Be Told," "Difficult People," "Big Time in Hollywood, FL," "Fresh Off the Boat," "Comedy Bang! Bang!," "Newsreaders," "Chasing Life," "Brooklyn Nine-Nine," "Dads," and "Whitney." On film, Dover appeared in "Life Partners," distributed by Magnolia Pictures, alongside Gillian Jacobs, Leighton Meester, Gabourey Sidibe, and Adam Brody.
Outside of acting, Dover is an avid supporter of Planned Parenthood, the ACLU, and the Human Rights Campaign. For leisure, she enjoys spending time with friends in private karaoke rooms, passionately singing her favorite songs. Dover currently resides in the Los Angeles area with her husband, actor Joe Lo Truglio, and their son.
