Mashar Çolak is an award-winning Turkish film and television director, producer, documentary filmmaker, and founder of "Timsah Film". His work spans documentary filmmaking, factual television, travel, gastronomy, biography, music, and cultural programming, with productions broadcast on some of Turkey's leading national television networks, including TRT, TRT Documentary, Star TV, Habertürk, CNN Türk, and 360 TV.
After beginning his career at national broadcasters CNN Türk and Habertürk, Çolak established Timsah Film, where he has overseen every stage of production from concept development and research to directing, producing, and delivering completed programs for national television. Throughout his career, he has served not only as a director and producer but also as a screenwriter, cinematographer, and content creator, contributing to more than 190 broadcast television episodes.
Among his best-known productions are the documentary series Çizgisiz Defter, produced for TRT Documentary; Cevher, a ten-part original television series exploring Turkey's mining industry for 360 TV; and Ezgi Sertel ile Lezzetin Haritası, a long-running gastronomy and travel series for Star TV, for which he served as director and producer across 140 episodes.
Çolak's filmmaking is characterized by an emphasis on authentic storytelling, cultural heritage, biography, and documentary narratives that connect audiences with people, places, and traditions. His work combines cinematic documentary techniques with television storytelling, often focusing on real-life experiences and regional culture.
He graduated with High Honors from the Department of Radio and Television at International Cyprus University, where he also served as President of the Student Union. In recognition of his contributions to Turkish television and documentary production, he received the Director and Producer of the Year award at the 13th International Golden Star Awards.
As both an independent producer and creative leader, Mashar Çolak continues to develop original documentary and television projects through Timsah Film.
