Leonid Vitalevich Nevedomsky was born on October 13, 1939, in Vitebsk, Belarus, USSR (now Vitsebsk, Belarus). He began his acting career in 1957 at the Sverdlovsk Drama Theatre under director Vladimir Motyl. In 1967, he graduated from Georgi Tovstonogov's class at the Institute of Theatre, Music, and Cinematography in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg). Nevedomsky made his film debut in Gorkie zyorna (1967).
From 1967 onward, Leonid Nevedomsky was a permanent member of the renowned Bolshoi Drama Theatre (BDT) troupe in St. Petersburg. He built an impressive stage career under Georgi Tovstonogov's direction at the BDT, performing alongside stars such as Oleg Basilashvili, Tatyana Doronina, Alisa Freyndlikh, Lyudmila Makarova, Svetlana Kryuchkova, Zinaida Sharko, Natalya Tenyakova, Elena Popova, Valentina Kovel, Innokentiy Smoktunovskiy, Kirill Lavrov, Oleg Borisov, Vladislav Strzhelchik, Yefim Kopelyan, Sergey Yurskiy, Evgeniy Lebedev, Ivan Palmu, Pavel Luspekayev, Nikolay Trofimov, Georgiy Shtil, Pavel Pankov, Mikhail Volkov, Vsevolod Kuznetsov, Vadim Medvedev, Yuriy Demich, Gennadiy Bogachyov, Andrey Tolubeev, among many other distinguished Russian actors.
In 1994, Nevedomsky was awarded the title of People's Artist of Russia. He earned numerous accolades for his work on stage and in film. His filmography encompasses over 40 roles, with more than 100 stage performances, and he also directed several theatre productions. Leonid Nevedomsky currently lives in St. Petersburg, Russia.
