Dave Moody is a multi-talented music artist, songwriter, producer, and filmmaker, recognized with numerous industry awards and peer honors. As part of The Moody Brothers, he received two Grammy Award nominations in the 1980s and spent much of the 1990s in Paris, France, working for The Walt Disney Company.
Returning home in the early 2000s, Dave released a solo album that sparked over 20 Dove Award nominations (the Christian Music Grammys), establishing him as a respected figure in the industry. In 2005 and 2006, he won multiple Dove Awards for his music and production work. In 2007, the Gospel Music Association named him the most nominated artist of the year with eight Dove nominations, including a prestigious nod for his publishing company in the Song of the Year category.
That same year, Dave expanded into filmmaking, beginning as a composer for the film Stuck in the Past (2007). Later in 2007, he and his son Josh Moody produced their first feature film, Praise Band: The Movie (2008), which garnered numerous awards and launched their faith-based, family-oriented production company, Elevating Entertainment Motion Pictures.
The Moody family's second film, No Limit Kids: Much Ado About Middle School (2010), featured Hollywood veteran Bill Cobbs, Golden Globe nominee Lee Meriwether, and Disney teen star Blake Michael. Released in fall 2010, the film's international distribution rights were acquired by Moving Pictures Film and Television, part of ICAP Media Group, while Bridgestone Multimedia Group handled U.S. and Canadian distribution. The story was later updated with additional footage and re-released in 2018 as Shakespeare School Year, starring Celeste Kellogg.
Dave produced and directed Season of Miracles (2013), adapted from Rusty Whitener's award-winning novel and screenplay, starring John Schneider, Grayson Russell, and Nancy Stafford. Vivendi Entertainment released the film in 2013.
In 2017, the Moodys produced Silver Twins, penned by Larry Silver in Nashville in 2015. Elevating Entertainment secured a distribution deal with Pure Flix in 2017 for this film and other titles in their catalog.
That summer, Dave and his family launched a second brand, Downbeat Films, producing the suspense thriller All Light Will End in partnership with Red Vessel Entertainment, Music City Films, and Ghost Horse. Written by Christopher Blake Johnson, the film features a cast including Andy Buckley, John Schuck, Sarah Butler, Ted Welch, Katie Garfield, Aaron Munson, and Alexandra Harris.
Additional notable projects include Dave’s soundtrack work for the urban indie film Generational Curses (2009), directing the Elf Sparkle animated series featuring Rob Schneider, John de Lancie, and Margaret O’Brien, and the sequel to Season of Miracles titled Season of Mysteries, slated for a 2018 release. Upcoming projects in development are Christmas on Repeat, Just 18 Summers, and No Time To Run.
