Judith Ayers Vogelsang received a Directors Guild of America Award nomination for outstanding achievement in Television Directing for her program GOINGGREEN - Every Home an Eco-Home, broadcast on public TV stations across the country. She co-wrote and produced the show alongside Mary Proteau. Additionally, she produced and directed the independent feature film Heartless, which aired on USA Network and was distributed worldwide.
Her career began producing and directing both non-fiction and fiction programs for PBS and CBS affiliates in the Midwest and East Coast. Judith earned a CINE Golden Eagle Award for her hour-long documentary Bucks County, USA. In Los Angeles, she worked as an Assistant Director for major studios before directing national prime-time episodic series such as Simon & Simon (CBS) and other entertainment programs on ABC and USA Network. She also contributed to non-fiction specials aired on CBS, ABC, and in syndication, including CBS American Memory Test and Silent Killer: Women & Heart Disease.
Humble Beauty: Skid Row Artists, a feature documentary exploring how art transformed homeless artists in Los Angeles, was produced in collaboration with Letitia Schwartz. Distributed by American Public Television, it is broadcast nationwide on public television and has broad online and academic availability. Her short environmental documentary, SUV Taggers, aired on The Documentary Channel, Free Speech TV, PBS stations, and Shorts TV.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, Judith attended NYC public schools. She graduated cum laude with a B.A. in English from Hobart & William Smith Colleges, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She earned an M.A. from the Writing Seminars at Johns Hopkins University and another M.A. in Film and TV from the University of Iowa.
Judith has served as a judge for the Emmys, DGA Awards, and DGA Student Film Awards. She has been featured on radio, TV, and podcasts. A member of the Directors Guild of America, Television Academy of Arts & Sciences, and Cinewomen, she is President of Stone Harbor Films, Inc., her independent production company. She resides in Los Angeles with her husband, poet Arthur Vogelsang.
