Ruiz began his photography career at 28. "I found a camera under my Christmas tree and became instantly obsessed. I started photographing everything around me. I taught myself the complex mechanics of the camera, but it took a few years before I realized I could turn my passion into a career," Ruiz shared. Now based in New Jersey, he is renowned for his beauty, celebrity, and fashion photography. His extensive list of celebrity clients includes Priyanka Chopra, Lewis Hamilton, Cardi B, Ruby Rose, Kim Kardashian, Katy Perry, Prince, Taraji P. Henson, Penn Badgley, Lakeith Stanfield, Kelly Clarkson, Queen Latifah, Betty White, and many more. He has also directed several music videos for artists like Kelly Rowland, Vanessa Williams, Erika Jayne, and RuPaul, making his feature film directorial debut with the hit comedy "StarrBooty," starring RuPaul. Mike has frequently appeared on America's and Canada's Next Top Model, RuPaul's Drag Race, and numerous other TV shows as an expert in his field. He takes great pride in his community service, supporting organizations such as GMHC, The Trevor Project, Housing Works, It Gets Better Campaign, Live Out Loud, Project Angel Food, and GLAAD. Additionally, he serves on the honorary board of the "Let There Be Hope" research foundation. Mike’s life was deeply impacted after adopting a sweet terrier named Oliver, who inspired him to collaborate with various animal rights organizations and rescues across the U.S., including the Stand Up For Pits Foundation and numerous other animal rescue groups nationwide.
