Sushma Bakshi is a veteran writer and actress fluent in Hindi, Marathi, English, and Bengali, with a prolific career spanning over thirty-five years. Entering audiovisual media in 1995, she joined Sahara TV as a promo producer, later becoming a sought-after freelance scriptwriter for numerous TV serials and films. Her notable works include writing for popular Marathi serials such as Swabhiman, Shodh Astitvvacha, and Julun Yeti Reshimgathi, as well as Hindi serials like Aapki Antara and Ek Mahal Ho Sapnon Ka. She has also penned screenplays and dialogues for children's films like Bhootraja and Ronnie, Chhakkad Bakkad Bambe Bow, and Lagi Shart, demonstrating her versatility across genres. Sushma Bakshi's contributions have earned her acclaim, including awards for Best Screenplay and Best Dialogues. Her on-screen work includes roles in serials such as Dil Dosti Duniyadari and Amravati ki Kathayen, directed by Shyam Benegal, as well as films like Antarnad, based on the Swadhyay movement, and Karamati Coat, alongside Irrfan Khan. She has also appeared in Sapatnekarache Mool, a Marathi feature film directed by Soumitra Ranade. In theatre, Sushma has acted in acclaimed plays like Vada Chirebandi, Magna Talyakathi & Yuganta (a trilogy by Mahesh Elkunchwar), Saavlya (directed by Satyadev Dubey), Poster (directed by Jayadeo Hattangady), and Medea, a Greek tragedy presented in Marathi, also directed by Jayadeo Hattangady. Beyond her creative pursuits, Sushma has made meaningful contributions to education, co-founding the NGO Kilbilat to foster children's talents and educating underprivileged kids from the Powai community.
