Gianfranco Gallo is an Italian actor, singer, writer, and director, born into an artistic family—his father was singer Nunzio Gallo and his mother, actress and writer Biancamaria Varriale. He began his career in 1981 with Roberto De Simone's theatre company and has since developed a diverse and extensive career in theatre, film, and television. As a prolific playwright and stage director, he has created and starred in many popular comedies and musicals such as Quartieri Spagnoli, Non ci resta che ridere, and Ti ho sposato per ignoranza, establishing himself as one of the most performed authors in Naples. On television, he is recognized for roles in Un posto al sole, Il Clan dei Camorristi, Gomorra - The Series (portraying Don Giuseppe Avitabile), Netflix's Luna Park, and the 2023 production La voce che hai dentro. In film, he has collaborated with directors including Marco Risi, Edoardo De Angelis, Matteo Garrone, and Michele Placido, with appearances at the Rome and Venice Film Festivals. His first feature as director, Dodici Repliche, won multiple international awards. Trained as a tenor by Roberto De Simone, he has authored three books: Napoli da Sotto a Sopra (2011), Cuori in ordine alfabetico (2013), and Segreti e Quarantene (2020). Throughout his career, he has garnered numerous accolades as both an actor and director, solidifying his status as a leading figure in contemporary Italian performing arts.
